Armed Robbery Attempt at Sarpino’s Pizzeria in Wrigleyville
A robbery attempt at Sarpino’s Pizzeria in Wrigleyville sent employees scrambling for safety late Monday night, as an armed suspect entered the store demanding money.
Officers responded to a 911 call from 1435 W Montrose regarding a robbery in progress. The caller, along with other employees, took shelter in the restaurant’s bathroom as the suspect, described as a Black male wearing a black Carhartt-style jacket, hoodie, and black pants, brandished a firearm.
Surveillance footage reportedly captured the incident, showing the suspect entering the establishment before making demands. However, no injuries were immediately reported.
Authorities believe the suspect fled westbound on Montrose Avenue following the failed robbery attempt. Officers are reviewing security footage and canvassing the area for witnesses.
This marks the second robbery attempt at the location, raising concerns among local businesses. The Chicago Police Department urges anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues.
