Three People Shot in Far South Side Shooting; Police Recover Firearms at Scene

A shooting on Chicago’s Far South Side left three people injured late Monday night, prompting a swift response from police and emergency medical services.

Officers and EMS responded to 328 E 116th St after reports of multiple gunshot victims. Upon arrival, authorities discovered a 24-year-old male shot in the right leg, a 44-year-old female shot in the back, and a 20-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest on the right side.

Emergency responders classified all three victims as “Red”—indicating serious or critical injuries.

  • Ambulance 76 transported one victim to University of Chicago Medical Center (UofC).
  • Ambulance 71 also rushed a victim to UofC.
  • Ambulance 5 took another victim to Christ Medical Center.

Crime Scene Details

Officers secured a chaotic crime scene littered with evidence, including:

  • Multiple shell casings
  • Shot-up vehicles
  • A magazine
  • A firearm was found under a red Chrysler 300
  • Another firearm was discovered on the sidewalk

Police confirmed that an officer on the scene applied a chest seal to one of the victims before paramedics arrived, potentially saving their life.

Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage and gathering witness statements as they investigate the motive and suspects behind the shooting. No arrests have been made at this time.

The Chicago Police Department urges anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues.
