According to police, the victim—an unidentified woman believed to be between 25 and 35 years old—was engaged in a verbal dispute with another woman on the platform when the situation escalated. During the argument, the suspect drew a firearm and shot the victim in the neck before fleeing the scene. Emergency responders rushed the victim to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition, where she was later pronounced dead.
In an update provided at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Chicago police announced that a person of interest is being questioned in connection with the shooting. However, no arrests have been confirmed, and the suspect remains at large.
